Uzbekistan has increased fees for local crypto exchanges and exchangers

Representatives of the agency conducted an analysis of the activities of service providers in the field of turnover of crypto assets, in particular crypto exchanges and exchangers. The results of studying the work of exchanges and exchangers have shown their profitability.

In this regard, in order to ensure the receipt of additional funds to the state budget, by order of the Director of the Agency dated March 5, 2024, amendments were made to the Regulation on the establishment of fees for activities in the field of turnover of crypto assets, the procedure for their payment and distribution.

For exchanges, the amount of mandatory monthly fees has been increased from 400 basic units of account (BRB) to 740 BRB (251.6 million soums or $20,015), for exchangers, which are called "cryptocurrency shops" in the law — from 20 BRB to 185 BRB (62.9 million soums or $5,000).

According to the NAPPA, the changes made will double revenues to the state budget, and will not have a negative impact on the financial situation of service providers. The changes will take effect in 3 months.
