Turkey is preparing a new package of regulations for the cryptocurrency industry, which "are designed to protect consumers and at the same time support innovation. This was announced in an interview with CoinDesk by Omer Ileri, deputy chairman of the ruling AK Party, after a meeting with representatives of the cryptocurrency sector.

He stated that the meeting was very useful, and industry participants shared their thoughts on the assessment of the situation. Ileri noted that both sides have similar opinions in this process.

"Our goal is to keep citizens safe, protect investors, regulate platforms, but at the same time introduce a bill that opens the way for innovation," Ileri said.

The politician also noted that the government has "big plans for various technological industries, such as blockchain and artificial intelligence." As an example of the government's interest in the cryptocurrency sector, he noted events such as Blockchain Istanbul and Forum Metaverse.
