On December 14, 2024, Canadian rapper Drake Graham's X (formerly Twitter) account was hacked by unknown hackers. The account was used to promote a fake memecoin called ANITA, allegedly related to the musician's cartoon alter ego, Anita Max Wynn.

The posts promoting the fake asset reached an audience of 39 million of the artist's subscribers. Thanks to this, the token's trading volume reached $5 million before traders realized that the coin was a scam, according to DexScreener.

The memecoin was presented as a product created in partnership with Stake, a crypto betting platform that Drake actually supports. The token's name referred to the character Anita Max Wynn, allegedly inspired by the rapper's love of gambling. All posts from the account were later deleted.

The artist himself did not comment on the hacking of the page and the current situation at the time of preparation of the material.

It should be noted that on December 8, 2024, the Cardano Foundation account on the X social network was also hacked to promote a similar scheme with memecoins. As for famous artists, other victims of hackers include celebrities such as Cardi B, Doja Cat and the band Metallica.
