The US Energy Information Administration has promised to destroy all records of miners
The Texas Blockchain Council (TBC) and mining company Riot Platform have notified the state District Court that they have reached an agreement with the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) and the U.S. Energy Information Administration (EIA).
The Energy Information Administration, under the terms of the agreement, stopped collecting information about companies engaged in mining cryptocurrencies. Companies will be notified in advance about the new data collection.
In January, the Ministry of Energy began collecting data on bitcoin miners, and the EIA issued a permit for this. TBC and the miners criticized the initiative, declaring that the actions of officials violate current legislation.
TBC and Riot Platform filed a lawsuit in the court of the western District of Texas, explaining that the actions of the department pose a threat due to the risk of disclosure of private information about the activities of miners in the country.
Earlier, senior Fox Business correspondent Charles Gasparino said that the White House administration considers bitcoin mining a threat to the normal functioning of the energy system.
