The US authorities have made claims against FTX for $ 3-5 billion
The debtors proposed that 100% of the "proceeds from damages to the Federal District Court for the Southern District of New York (SDYN)" be directed to payments to investors and clients.
The amount of claims by the US government against the property of the collapsed FTX is expected to range from $3 billion to $5 billion. This is reported by The Block with reference to the materials of the court.
The tax claims of the authorities have not yet been fully determined. However, the administrative costs and claims of non-governmental creditors will be paid first.
The debtors proposed that 100% of the "proceeds from damages to the Federal District Court for the Southern District of New York (SDYN)" be directed to payments to investors and clients.
After that, 25% of the company's funds will be used to pay federal income tax claims, and the remainder will be used to repay claims from the U.S. Futures Trading Commission and other government agencies.
The authorities will place the funds received into the Civil Compensation Fund for payments to FTX customers and creditors, whose cryptocurrency has grown since the application was submitted.
The repayment procedure will be as follows:
- Payment of SDNY in favor of FTX clients and Alameda creditors.
- Closing administrative expenses and tax liabilities.
- Full coverage of damage to non-state creditors.
- Payment of federal income tax.
- Payments to the Civil Compensation Fund.
In May 2023, the IRS filed a series of lawsuits against the bankrupt FTX and its subsidiaries for a total of $44 billion.
