The media named the names of Binance top managers detained in Nigeria

Since the end of February 2024, the Nigerian authorities have been holding two top managers of the Binance exchange in the country. These are Tigran Gambaryan and Nadim Anjarwalla, the WSJ reports.

The first holds the position of head of the financial crimes department of the company, the second holds the position of regional head for East and West Africa.

According to Wired, Gambarian and Anjarwalla arrived in Abuja on February 25, 2024. They were invited by the local authorities to discuss the exchange's activities in the country.

After the first meeting, the company's employees were taken to a hotel, ordered to pack up and moved into a house under the supervision of the National Security Agency of Nigeria, the publication noted. Both defendants have not been charged, the WSJ added.

In a comment to CoinDesk, a Binance representative stated the following:

"Although it is inappropriate to comment on the substance of the claims at this time, we can say that we are working together with the Nigerian authorities to bring Tigran and Nadim home. They are professionals with the highest degree of trust. We will provide them with all possible support and hope that this issue will be resolved quickly."
