Law enforcement officers managed to track the whereabouts of the man and woman after entering the country under false names.
The Federal Police of Argentina announced the detention of the founders of a financial pyramid scheme, with the help of which cryptocurrencies worth more than $ 400 million were pocketed in Brazil.
In Argentina, the man was known as "Joao Felipe Costa", as well as Antonio Inacio da Silva Neto, he is one of the founders of the company Vgaissomrapu, which seeks to "provide financial freedom to thousands of people through information." The woman has been identified as Fabricia Farias Campos, she is da Silva's partner.
In the name of Da Silva Neto, an Interpol red warrant was issued in March 2023 on charges of crimes against the Brazilian financial system, money laundering and crimes against the capital market. In February, the couple was sentenced to more than 150 years in prison: to 88 years and 7 months for Da Silva Neto and to 61 years and 11 months for Farias Campos.
Their arrest was preceded by a large-scale investigation, during which the couple's location was tracked through purchases and various kinds of payments. The scammers are now in the custody of the Argentine authorities, who will have to sign an order for their extradition to Brazil, where they will be imprisoned.
