In the fourth quarter of last year, the Meta RealityLabs department, which creates virtual spaces, earned $1 billion and went into the red by $4.6 billion. By the end of 2023, the amount of losses of this department reached $ 16.1 billion.
We expect a significant increase in operating losses of Realit Labs in connection with the development of a product in the field of augmented or virtual reality and investments in further scaling of our ecosystem, — stated in the Meta financial report.
Overall, last year turned out to be a success for Meta. The company's revenue increased by 16% compared to 2022 and amounted to $134.9 billion. The organization's net profit increased to $39 billion, and depositors received $14.87 per share, which is 73% higher than the figure recorded in 2022.
