The current CEO of FTX called Sam Bankman-Fried's statements "reckless"
The current CEO of FTX, John Ray, criticized Bankman-Fried's arguments about not being involved in the bankruptcy of the company. The head of the platform called them "false and reckless."
The current CEO of the FTX crypto exchange, John Ray, criticized Sam Bankman-Fried's (SBF) statement on reimbursing customers and not being involved in the collapse of the company. He called them "false and reckless."
Earlier, Bankman-Fried's lawyers stated that the exchange's clients did not suffer losses, since they will receive full refunds after the bankruptcy procedure.
In addition, the defense proposed to reduce the possible term of SBF imprisonment to five to six years instead of the stated 40 or 50 years. According to lawyers, such calls by the US attorney's office distort reality and portray Bankman-Fried as a "supervillain."
In his statement, Ray said that when he took over as CEO of FTX, the exchange's treasury was practically empty. About 105 BTC remained on the platform's accounts, while customers claim compensation in the amount of about 100,000 BTC.
"Bankman-Fried lives in delusions. The FTX exchange, which ceased operations in November 2022, was not solvent and secure. He stole a large sum and deserves a fair punishment," said the current CEO of FTX.
According to Ray, the current refund plan has displeased many FTX customers. For example, owners of bitcoins that have stored their assets on the exchange will receive a monetary equivalent that is about 400% lower than the current value of assets.
"Since customers will be refunded based on the value of their portfolios at the time of bankruptcy, they will never return to the same economic situation they would be in today. It's all the fault of the colossal Bankman-Fried fraud," Ray said.
