The bankrupt Cryptopia exchange will return part of the funds to creditors
The Cryptopia exchange, which has been declared bankrupt, intends to return some of the funds. The assets will be returned in Bitcoins and Dogecoin (DOGE) within three months.
The New Zealand Cryptopia exchange, which stopped working in 2019 after the hack, intends to return some of the funds to creditors.
According to the exchange's statement, Cryptopia will distribute bitcoins and Dogecoin (DOGE) among account holders over the next three months.
"After the first distribution, we will follow the approved process to distribute the remaining bitcoins, Dogecoin and all other cryptocurrencies to customers by the end of 2024," the publication says.
The company added that account holders will be able to claim additional payments, allowing them to receive up to 100% of their assets. However, in this case, the distribution of funds will take place before the middle of 2025.
The company announced the accrual of funds after the relevant Wellington Court decision of March 1, 2024. All clients of the bankrupt exchange who qualify for payment must submit a request to Cryptopia Customer Support.
Recall that the trading platform stopped servicing in 2019 after being hacked for more than $15 million. Two years later, a former Cryptopia employee stole another $170,000 in cryptocurrencies.
