The bankrupt Cryptopia exchange promises to return some of the funds in bitcoins to customers

The exchange stopped serving customers after a hack in 2019, when $16 million was stolen from the site, and announced the closure of the enterprise. The liquidator of the exchange, Grant Thornton, has begun collecting assets for subsequent payments.

Following the Wellington Court's decision of March 1, 2024, Cryptopia began crediting funds to user accounts. In the next three months, the Cryptopia team promises to distribute bitcoins and Dogecoin (DOGE) among account holders.

After this first stage of asset recovery, the platform intends to adhere to a schedule according to which customers will be able to receive bitcoins, Dogecoin and other assets by the end of December.

Representatives of the site stressed that 100% of the lost assets will be distributed only by the middle of 2025. All applicants for payments must submit an application to the Cryptopia technical support service.
