Telegram sold $330 million worth of bonds to global funds
The largest investors were funds from the United Arab Emirates — Mubadala Investment Company and Abu Dhabi Catalyst Partners. Together, they bought $150 million worth of bonds.
In mid-March 2024, Telegram issued bonds worth $330 million. This was announced by the creator of the messenger Pavel Durov.
According to him, demand exceeded supply, and the participants in the transaction were "global funds of the highest level with an impeccable reputation."
"The increased demand for our bonds shows that global financial institutions appreciate the growth of Telegram's audience and monetization," Durov wrote on his channel.
He added that the terms of the placement turned out to be "the most profitable for Telegram in the entire history of the company."
Earlier, Durov confirmed plans for Telegram Group Inc. to launch an IPO. According to him, potential investors "valued the company at $30 billion."
