The South Korean Committee for the Protection of Personal Information has launched an investigation into Worldcoin. The agency said it had received a series of complaints about the collection of confidential information during iris scans.

According to the regulator's statement, the investigation will analyze the company's activities, including the processing of personal data in order to identify possible violations.

According to reports, Worldcoin collected information about people's faces and irises in ten locations across South Korea.

It should be noted that in July 2023, the agency fined OpenAI 3.6 million Korean won (about $2,700) for leaking information about 687 citizens through the ChatGPT AI application. Startup CEO Sam Altman is the founder of Worldcoin.
