Ripple CEO dispels rumors about XRP-ETF
Ripple "welcomes" the emergence of exchange-traded funds (ETFs) based on XRP, but has not yet disclosed specific plans, CEO Brad Garlinghouse said in an interview with Bloomberg.
When asked about negotiations with the asset manager of BlackRock on the issue of an ETF, the head of the firm replied:
"I will not comment on this. I know that some things have been said publicly at BlackRock. We think it makes sense for the community as a whole. Ripple is obviously a very important participant in the XRP ecosystem, but not the only one."
In November 2023, fake news appeared about BlackRock's application to launch an XRP ETF. The management company denied the report, and later filed a statement with the police.
Currently, there is no XRP-based exchange-traded fund in the United States. However, companies like CoinShares and 21Shares offer asset-based ETP in European markets.
Speaking about the XRP ETF, Garlinghouse expressed optimism, drawing parallels with the early days of the stock market, when "diversification was the key to risk management."
He sees the approval of spot bitcoin ETFs as a signal that the courts are ready to fight the anti-currency policy of the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC).
