PancakeSwap developers have announced the launch of the fourth version of the protocol

The development team announced the launch of the fourth version of the decentralized exchange (DEX) PancakeSwap. According to preliminary data, PancakeSwap V4 will start working on the Ethereum and BNB Chain networks in the third quarter of 2024.

PancakeSwap representatives told CoinDesk that they are going to introduce four new automated market maker (AMM) functions. According to them, this will make trading on the platform more efficient and accessible.

"PancakeSwap v4 will be released with open source. We strive to eliminate the disadvantages of AMM, including an inflexible pricing model for assets, lack of execution functions at the CEX level, non—permanent losses for liquidity providers and high gas fees for users," said the CEO of PancakeSwap under the pseudonym Moti.

According to the team's statement, PancakeSwap v4 will feature contracts or "hooks" that will allow developers to add additional settings. For example, they will be able to change the commission amount and the type of trading order. The creators of such contracts will be able to keep the fee for themselves or distribute it among interested parties.

Custom liquidity pools are another new feature of PancakeSwap v4. It is expected that they will prevent sharp price fluctuations during large sales or purchases of the token.

In addition, the developers plan to implement a Singleton solution that combines all pools into one contract. The initiative will reduce the cost of deployment by 99%, the report says.

In addition to this, the team is going to reduce gas consumption by offering a collective settlement of transactions.
