Montenegrin authorities extradite Do Kwon to the United States
The Podgorica High Court announced that the founder of Terraform Labs, Do Kwon, will be extradited to the United States of America, which is prosecuting him for criminal offenses in the field of financial transactions.
The decision to extradite Do Kwon to the United States was made after the Appeals Court instructed the Supreme Court to decide who should extradite the businessman to South Korea or the United States. Earlier, representatives of the justice authorities stated that the conditions for extradition to Kwon had been met, and left it to the discretion of the Minister of Justice Andrei Milovich to decide which of the requesting countries he would prefer.
Do Kwon's defense lawyer, Goran Radnic, previously told the Montenegrin edition of Pobjeda that his client should be extradited to South Korea, not to the United States.
"All the legal reasons, that is, the European Convention on Extradition, the bilateral agreement that we concluded with America, and the Montenegrin law on international legal assistance 100% suggest that Do Kwon should be extradited to South Korea," he said.
However, Justice Minister Andrei Milovich explained that this was a political decision.
"The United States is our main foreign policy partner, we want to sign a bilateral extradition agreement as soon as possible to create a legal framework for future incidents," the minister commented.
