Media: Sam Bankman-Fried's lawyers will defend Mashinsky in court
Lawyers Mark Mukasey and Torrey Young will represent Alex Mashinsky in court. According to available information, in January they were hired by the ex-CEO of the FTX exchange, Sam Bankman-Fried.
Alex Mashinsky, the former CEO of the Celsius crypto-lender, has rejected any potential conflicts of interest when considering his case in court. This is reported by Bloomberg with reference to court documents.
On February 20, 2024, Mashinsky informed a U.S. federal judge of his intention to use the services of lawyers Mark Mukasey and Torrey Young. The source claims that they were previously hired by the ex-CEO of the bankrupt FTX exchange, Sam Bankman Fried, to represent his interests during sentencing.
Mashinsky said that he was in court for the first time and was not an expert in this field. He is looking for lawyers to prove his innocence.:
Judge: Celsius may claim to be a victim of Alameda Research, but your lawyers can't use the documents. Do you understand?

Mashinsky: This is my first time in a court. I am not an expert in this space... I am spending money to prove my innocence...
Prosecutors in the Mashinsky and Bankman-Fried cases have called for both hearings to be held in February to allay concerns about a potential conflict of interest. The U.S. government said Mashinsky partly blamed the collapse on Celsius Alameda Research, a subsidiary of FTX.
Recall that in 2022, the former head of Celsius was accused of providing false information about the state of the company shortly before its bankruptcy. The latter did not agree with the statement and demanded the closure of the case.
