JPMorgan CEO: "I will never buy Bitcoin"
Jamie Dimon, CEO of JPMorgan Chase Banking Corporation, said he would never buy bitcoin. After that, Dimon received a lot of criticism.
Speaking at the Australian Financial Review summit in a live broadcast from New York, Jamie Dimon expressed doubts about bitcoin, once again emphasizing his anti-cryptocurrency position. Although he recently promised not to discuss the topic of cryptocurrencies anymore.
"I do not know what bitcoin itself is for, but I respect your right to buy it. It's like smoking cigarettes — you can't stop people from doing what they want to do. Personally, I will never buy bitcoin," Dimon stressed.
The banker's comments caused a lot of criticism on social networks. Former CIA officer Edward Snowden noted: despite the fact that the CEO of JPMorgan is opposed to cryptocurrencies, the bank itself is actively involved in bitcoin-related activities due to the high demand of customers for digital assets. In addition, the investment bank is an authorized participant in the BlackRock Bitcoin spot ETF.
"The head of JPMorgan admits that his giant firm will buy bitcoins now that the cryptocurrency is reaching new record highs. At the same time, he himself sits on the edge, and shouts: "This does not count!", "I do not belong to them!", — Snowden wrote in X.
