In the Base network, the daily number of transactions increased 5 times after the Dencun update
On March 13, the Dencun update was carried out on the Ethereum network, designed to reduce commissions in L2 solutions. After that, the daily number of transactions in the Base network exceeded 2 million, increasing 5 times.
Before the update, on average, Base network users carried out about 440,000 transactions daily, but on March 16 the figure reached 2,064,920, and it continues to grow. The number of new users has also increased significantly ― on March 16, 666,866 new addresses appeared on the Base network, which is 3,200% more than the average before the Dencun update.
On average, Base users recorded a decrease in transaction fees by more than 60%. However, this is also true for other second-tier networks based on Ethereum.
Currently, $1.46 billion is blocked on the Base network, launched by the Coinbase exchange in August last year. This is the sixth result among the second-level solutions. The leaders remain the blockchains Arbitrum and Optimism with a total capitalization of $ 23 billion.
Note that the Dencun update has practically no effect on the amount of commissions in the main Ethereum network ― a transaction with ETH will cost, on average, $2.1. About $5 will be charged for the transfer of USDC, and $16 will have to be paid for the exchange of tokens on the Uniswap exchange.
