HTC refused to obtain a license in Hong Kong

The HTX bitcoin exchange division (formerly Huobi) has withdrawn its application for a license in Hong Kong. This is reported by the South China Morning Post (SCMP).

According to the publication, this happened three days after submitting the form to the Securities and Futures Commission (SFC).

In accordance with the regulatory regime adopted last year, companies offering trading in crypto assets must apply for a license by February 29 or cease operations by June 1.

The SCMP noted that among the applicants for approval in the jurisdiction there are a number of companies that had ties to mainland China before the persecution of the crypto industry began.

Founded in Beijing in 2017, OKX applied in January. The exchange is registered in Seychelles.

The HKVAEX platform affiliated with Binance took a similar step in the autonomous region.

The largest bitcoin exchange does not indicate the jurisdiction of its headquarters in the documents, but the current head of the company, Richard Teng, indicates residence in Dubai in his X account.

Based in Hong Kong Crypto.com , now based in Singapore, has also applied for a license.

According to the SFC, a total of 18 firms are awaiting regulatory approval as providers of digital asset trading services.
