Financial conglomerate HSBC has tokenized gold for retail investors in Hong Kong. This is reported by CoinDesk with reference to a press release.
It is known that a tokenized product called HSBC Gold Token was created on the HSBC Orion digital asset platform and is available to investors through the HSBC online banking and the HSBC HK mobile application.
The statement says that HSBC claims to be the first bank to create a real blockchain-based asset designed for retail investors.
"We are proud that HSBC Gold Token is the first retail product in Hong Kong based on distributed ledger technology authorized by the Securities and Futures Commission," said Maggie Ng, a representative of the bank.
