Fuel introduced Rollup OS ahead of the mainnet launch

The Fuel project, which is positioned as "the world's fastest modular execution level", introduced the Rollup OS solution.

According to the developers, the "operating system" represents an evolution of the Fuel V1 platform based on Optimistic Rollups. The technology is designed to eliminate the "critical limitations" inherent in current roll-up architectures.

With the launch of the main network scheduled for the third quarter, Fuel will introduce a virtual machine focused on parallel transaction execution. With this approach, the developers intend to increase the scalability of the system.

The project uses "state minimization methods" designed to reduce the amount of data accumulated by nodes. This should also have a positive impact on network performance.

According to the developers, such approaches will make it possible to effectively scale Fuel rolls with minimal operating costs and without compromising security.

"As the rollups mature, it becomes clear that an operating environment optimized for their unique requirements is the non-negotiable next step. Fuel is this evolution: Rollup OS eliminates critical bottlenecks, ensuring the future of roll-up technology and the Ethereum ecosystem," said Nick Dodson, CEO and co—founder of the company.

Fuel was launched in 2020 as an L2 based on Optimistic Rollups. However, the developers subsequently chose a modular approach, positioning the system as the execution level for various blockchain configurations, including rollups.

To ensure parallel transaction processing, Fuel Network uses FuelVM, an alternative to the Ethereum virtual machine.
