Elizabeth Warren allowed to raise a flag over the Capitol in honor of Satoshi Nakamoto
US Senator Elizabeth Warren from Massachusetts, as it turned out, unwittingly honored the memory of the alleged creator of bitcoin Satoshi Nakamoto, although she herself has been opposing cryptocurrencies for many years.
It was played by an anonymous bitcoin supporter who took advantage of a U.S. government program that allows members of Congress to express recognition to individuals or groups of individuals.
This prankster submitted an application expressing appreciation to Nakamoto for creating "the first truly inclusive financial system." Senator Warren's office granted this request by issuing a certificate for raising the country's flag in honor of Nakamoto.
The editorial board of Bitcoin Magazine disseminated this information, admitting that Senator Warren, a long-time bitcoin critic, had changed her point of view.
Many members of the community were very surprised by such a drastic change in attitude towards bitcoin and its alleged creator and the permission to raise a flag in his honor at the Capitol.
More critical-minded people were outraged by the negligent attitude to official documents and the procedure itself. Daniel Modell, head of marketing at Pubke, asked a reasonable question: "If they don't read such simple things as a certificate, how carefully do they read the legislative documents?"
Particularly attentive social media users suggested that the approval might not have come from Warren herself. In particular, a member of the XRP Crypto ERI community wrote that anyone can fill out a form, choose the size of the US flag, make a payment of $26 for raising the flag and $9 for a certificate.
