Donald Trump: "Abandoning the dollar in favor of bitcoin is tantamount to defeat in the war"
The US presidential candidate from the Republican Party critically responded to the growing popularity of crypto assets in the United States and stated that he was categorically against such de-dollarization of the economy.
Donald Trump said that he generally welcomes financial market innovations that allow American citizens to improve their well-being. Referring to his experience, the former president admitted that he is no stranger to the fascination with "crazy new currencies" and enjoys making money from it.
However, as a statesman and, possibly, the future president of the United States, he cannot allow the substitution of the American dollar with any digital assets.
"I understand that certain cryptocurrencies are becoming self-sufficient financial instruments and a new form of money. But I absolutely do not want people to abandon the US dollar in their favor. Now the national currency is waging a war for its acceptance by the world, and the loss of the dollar standard will be equivalent to losing this war. As a possible future president, I cannot allow this," the politician declared.
Donald Trump insists: any attempts involving the possibility of a transition from an economy supported by the US dollar to an economy in which bitcoin or any other cryptocurrency will be integrated should be considered an existential threat to America's global dominance.
