On February 19, 2024, a regular meeting was held on the claim of the Crypto Open Patent Alliance (COPA) against programmer Craig Wright. During the trial, one of the defense witnesses had to justify himself for his previous statement.
We are talking about the CEO of nChain, Stefan Matthews. During the interrogation, the prosecution presented his message dated January 2024:
M: known CSW for a long time [drivel]
— Humble Bit (@Humble_Bit) February 19, 2024
C: [shows transcript from CAH convo]
M: don't know what that .... oh, i know, this is a recording in spain. it isn't verified, it is cut together
C: [shows docs] heading to a train wreck, did you said that?
M: may have
In it, he stated that "everything is heading for disaster." According to Matthews, it was about preparing for the trial. He insisted that he did not consider Wright a "fake."
The prosecutor also presented several other incriminating messages. In them, Matthews is angered by Wright's behavior. The witness stated that this was a loose interpretation of the context.
Other experts involved in the process by the self-proclaimed Satoshi Nakamoto noted that the latter did not present any convincing evidence of his authorship.
One of them, David Bridges, admitted that he does not understand crypto assets. The other turned out to be the accused's cousin.
