A platform for confiscated crypts will appear in Russia
Digital assets in Russia are still being withdrawn, but a unified register has not appeared. Therefore, the state has come up with a new way to strengthen supervision of the unregulated crypt in the Russian Federation
Domestic law enforcement officers can withdraw cryptocurrency and dispose of it within the framework of criminal cases. Now a special digital platform will appear for this, where the confiscated funds will be transferred.
Permission to create such a site was given by the head of the government commission for the prevention of offenses, Interior Minister Vladimir Kolokoltsev. The initiator was the Ministry of Finance of the Russian Federation.
The participants of the crypto market supported the proposal. According to a representative of the largest Russian miner BitRiver, at the moment there is no order for the confiscation of cryptocurrencies in the country. In addition, the seized digital assets are stored suboptimally.
Most often, problems arise due to the fact that the cryptocurrency is scattered across various trading platforms. Of course, foreign services are especially popular. Many of them are not subject to the jurisdiction of the Russian Federation.
Oleg Ogienko from BitRiver noted that on the new site, law enforcement officers will be able to open accounts for storing cryptocurrency, the distribution of which is illegal in Russia. However, government agencies, such as Rosfinmonitoring, the Ministry of Internal Affairs or the FSB, will be able to dispose of these assets within the framework of the law, he added.
The state digital platform for the confiscated crypt will be a single registry.
Thus, the state will strengthen control over the cryptocurrency. This, in turn, will reduce the risks of using such assets in illegal transactions. At the same time, other risks arise — for the privacy and security of user data.
