A film will be made about a married couple who stole bitcoin from the Bitfinex exchange
Last year, the couple made a deal with the investigation, pleading guilty to hacking and returning the stolen bitcoins.
In the near future, a film about the theft of funds from the Bitfinex cryptocurrency exchange may be released on screens. Actors Chloe Grace Moretz and Lewis Pullman have agreed to shoot the film, which will be based on the plot published by Business Insider in 2022.
According to the Dateline information and analytical program, the film will be called Dutch & Razzklekhan ("Dutch and Razzlkhan") in honor of a married couple who gained fame after being accused of stealing cryptocurrency from Bitfinex.
Heather "Razzlhan" Morgan and Ilya "Dutch" Lichtenstein were arrested in February 2022 in the Bitfinex hacking case. On the Internet, rapper Razzlhan is also known as the "Crocodile from Wall Street", and given the couple's online activity, their story quickly overgrown with various memes, and users nicknamed them "Bitcoin Bonnie and Clyde".
The couple stole more than 119,000 bitcoins, worth about $70 million at that time, and by the time the authorities confiscated the hidden assets, their value had grown to almost $ 4 billion. At the current exchange rate, their bitcoins are valued at more than $8 billion.
When Heather Morgan testified in court last August, she said that over time she began to "suspect" that her husband, who was paying rent in cryptocurrency, had obtained these funds illegally. According to her, Lichtenstein confessed to her of stealing bitcoin only in 2020.
