Healthcare Firm Semler Scientific Buys $40m worth BTC;Japan-based Metaplanet has announced plans to purchase an additional ¥250 million (approximately $1.6 million) worth of BTC

Semler Scientific purchased 581 BTC for a total of $40 million including fees and expenses. Japanese company Metaplanet has announced plans to purchase an additional 250 million yen (approximately $1.6 million) in Bitcoin.

Semler Scientific, a publicly listed company that produces healthcare products to help manage chronic health conditions, has announced its full commitment to Bitcoin. In a press release published on Tuesday US time, the company's board of directors decided to adopt Bitcoin as its primary reserve asset. The company has purchased 581 BTC for a total of US$40 million, including fees and expenses.

Semler Scientific's Chairman, Eric Semler, explained the company's reasons for investing in Bitcoin, stating that Bitcoin is a reliable store of value and emphasizing its scarcity and security. The company also believes that Bitcoin has the potential to generate outsize returns as it gains increasing acceptance as digital gold. The approval of Bitcoin ETFs has played a role in the company's decision.

Metaplanet, a Japan-based company, has announced plans to purchase an additional ¥250 million (approximately $1.6 million) worth of Bitcoin, which will increase its Bitcoin holdings significantly from its current 117.72 BTC.
