Crypto addresses linked to the Hamas group have been sanctioned by the United States and the United Kingdom
US and UK regulators have imposed sanctions on crypto addresses linked to the Hamas group. Analysts noted that the scammers managed to collect only $32,000 in crypto assets.
US and UK regulators have imposed restrictions on the Gaza Now service and its founder, who collected donations in cryptocurrency for the terrorist group Hamas.
In addition, another person and two organizations that collaborated with Gaza Now in the framework of numerous fundraising events were sanctioned. Regulators also listed several cryptocurrency addresses that were used to raise funds.
Brian Nelson, Deputy Secretary of the Treasury for Counterterrorism and Financial Intelligence, said:
"We seek to limit Hamas' ability to finance terrorist activities, in particular through online fundraising campaigns. The United States, in close coordination with British partners, will continue to use our tools to undermine Hamas' ability to facilitate further attacks."
According to TRM Labs, GazaNow, a company that actively supported Hamas through the dissemination of propaganda, collected donations in cryptocurrencies. The associated addresses, which were first active in August 2021, received more than $4.3 million. Approximately $32,000 of this amount was received after the terrorist attacks on October 7. 2023
