Binance has announced the delisting of the anonymous cryptocurrency Monero

The Binance crypto exchange has announced the delisting of several, including anonymous, cryptocurrencies, including Monero (XMR). The following will also be removed from the platform: Aragon (ANT), Multichain (MULTI), Vai (VAI). The reason for the removal of trading pairs, the platform called them "non-compliance with its strict criteria."

Monero (XMR) is an anonymous cryptocurrency that is in the top 50 by capitalization according to Conmarketcap. The XMR rate reacted to the news of delisting with Binance with a sharp drop of 12%.

Starting from February 20, spot trading pairs with bitcoin, USDT and BNB — Binance's own token - will be removed from the platform. The exchange recommended canceling orders with these pairs before delisting, otherwise they will be canceled automatically within one to three business days. Users will be able to convert tokens into stablecoins after May 21, 2024.

In June 2023, Binance abandoned plans to delist anonymous cryptocurrencies in Europe. This decision affected a whole list of "private" cryptocurrencies: Decred, Dash, Zcash, Horizon, PIVX, Navcoin, Secret, Verge, Firo, Beam, Monero and MobileCoin. The crypto exchange announced the possibility of creating an updated classification of coins that falls under the requirements of regulators.
