Rumors on the net about "basic phone" for $99 from TON blockchain

In social media, rumors have spread about the development of a new smartphone called "Universal Basic Smartphone" by companies The Open Network (TON), HashKey and Ouster Labs. This information originated from a post in the banned Russian social network X by Robert Lee, one of the founders of WebZConvention.

In the message, Lee captured a moment from the final stage of the TON Hacker House hackathon, which took place on April 4th in Hong Kong. At the event, more than 20 innovative projects from 100 programmers competed for a prize consisting of technical consultation, financial subsidies or a cash prize of $1.5 million from the fund.

On the presentation slide shown, it is depicted as "High-quality phone at an affordable price" for $99. On the slide, several features of the phone are also listed, including an 8-core processor, 6GB of RAM, 128GB of built-in storage, USB-C input and a lithium-ion battery with a capacity of 4050 mAh. Lee said he bought "the mobile phone TON directly there to test it."

He also showed a photograph taken with "the creator of the TON phone". Users who doubted the accuracy of the information began to ask official TON accounts questions. However, so far, representatives of the company have not commented on this news.
